Kevin Mench made an impact in the 6-3 Memphis win over Boston. Mench, who was drafted in the 2nd round of the 2004 draft, went 2 for 4 with a home run, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Ownie Carroll was the winning pitcher. Over 5 innings, he allowed 2 runs on 5 hits, with no walks and 3 strikeouts. With the win, Memphis upped its record to 68-43.

Mench had a timely hit for Memphis in the top of the sixth. With Boston trailing 2-0, he turned a 1-1 curveball into a grand slam home run. It was his 14th home run of the season, making it 4-2, Memphis.
