| Black Yankees Prevail, 3-2, Over Memphis | Yankee Stadium I was the site of an exciting ballgame between the New York Black Yankees and Memphis Red Sox.
The New York Black Yankees got a stellar performance from pitcher Dennis Lamp, who handcuffed the Memphis offense en route to a win, 3-2, at Yankee Stadium I. In 7 innings, Lamp surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 0. He allowed 2 runs. Pete Schourek recorded the save, making him 17 for 25.
Stan Musial hit a 2-run home run off Ownie Carroll in the bottom of the fourth, which put the Black Yankees ahead, 2-1. In addition to the homer, Musial had 1 double, while going 2 for 4.
"I felt we were ready to go," said New York manager John McInerney. "Our pregame was pretty good."
New York goes to 55-60, Memphis to 70-44.
