| Black Yankees Nip Eagles, 6-5 | New York right fielder Stan Musial made his presence felt in the 6-5 Black Yankees triumph over the Houston Eagles. Musial was 3 for 4 with 2 doubles. He scored 2 runs. The winner was Mark W Davis in relief. His record improves to 4-2. Tim Spooneybarger took the loss. With the win, New York goes to 56-60, while the Eagles fall to 68-47.
New York used the timely hitting of Johnny Damon to seize the win. The center fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Black Yankees on top, 6-5. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"In baseball, you have your ups and downs," said Houston manager Charles Wolfson. "You just try to stay level-headed the whole time."
