Red Sox Need Extra Innings to Top Browns, 7-5
The St. Louis Browns got a superb performance from third baseman Billy Goodman, but the Memphis Red Sox still won the game, 7-5. Goodman went 5 for 5 with 2 doubles and 3 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. With the win, Memphis pushed its record to 72-45.

Memphis won the game in the bottom of the 11th inning. With one out and Dave LaRoche on the mound for St. Louis, catcher Zack Bliss hit a dramatic 2-run home run, bringing Red Sox fans to their feet.

In postgame comments to the Memphis Citizen, Bliss said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
