Leiter allowed 1 run over 8 innings. Reliever Matt Thornton picked up the win. His record improves to 2-0. Al Leiter took the loss. Chicago goes to 5-7.
Chicago relied on the bat of Domingo Santana to get the win. The left fielder ripped a solo home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the American Giants ahead, 1-0. For the game, Santana had 1 double and 1 home run in 3 at-bats.
