Monarchs Win at New York, 5-2 | Kansas City and New York duked it out and the Monarchs came out victorious.
The Kansas City Monarchs got a strong performance from pitcher Lefty Williams, who stymied the New York offense en route to a win, 5-2, at Yankee Stadium I. The loss makes New York 4-9.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Tyler White, the 26-year old first baseman ? White stroked a 2-run single in the top of the ninth inning to put Kansas City up, 4-2. For the game, he was 2 for 4, including 1 double and 1 single.
"I thought we played a nice game," White told the Kansas City Chronicle. "Good pitching, timely hitting, it was all there." | | | | |
