Kansas City picked up a win at RFK Stadium, bumping off the Washington Senators, 5-1. Pitcher Dock Ellis was a major reason the Athletics emerged victorious. Washington drops to 7-8.

In the top of the fourth, Kansas City first baseman Alvin Davis had a productive at-bat. With runners on 1st and 2nd and two out, Davis stroked a run-scoring single to right. It made the score 3-1, Kansas City. For the game, he went 2 for 4 with 2 singles and a walk.
