Drysdale Masters Birmingham in Complete Game Win | The Milwaukee Bears picked up a win at County Stadium , knocking off the Birmingham Black Barons, 6-2. Starting pitcher Don Drysdale was a big reason why. The win brings the Bears to 7-12, an awful start for a team that made the playoffs just last season.
Drysdale, who finished 5th in the NL in strikeouts with 194 in 1999, pitched a complete game for Milwaukee. Drysdale surrendered 5 hits over 9 innings and struck out 8. With the win, he moves to 2-1 on the season.
"I thought we played a nice game," Drysdale told the Milwaukee Herald. "Good pitching, timely hitting, it was all there." | | | | |
