| 3-1 Angels Win over Stars Evens Season Record | The Los Angeles Angels topped the Detroit Stars, 3-1, in Junior Circuit action at Tiger Stadium. The game was highlighted by the performance of Los Angeles pitcher Tim Keefe. Keefe, now 2-0, was the winner. In 7.1 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 4, walking 3, and allowing 1 run. Felix Hernandez nailed down his 6th save.
In the top of the first, Martin Dihigo pounced on a curveball from Bob Ojeda and hit a run-scoring triple. It gave Los Angeles a quick 1-0 lead.
"Can't say enough about our pitching," said Dihigo.
The win puts Los Angeles at 10-10.
