| Red Sox Lose Late, 7-4 | The performance of Howie Kendrick proved critical in helping Birmingham beat Memphis, 7-4. The Black Barons first baseman was 2 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Robbie Weinhardt earned his 11th save in 16 chances. With the win, Birmingham upped its record to 65-59.
Birmingham took a 7-4 lead in the bottom of the eighth inning. With two out, catcher Chris Herrmann hit a 3-run home run that set the crowd abuzz.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Herrmann told the Birmingham Citizen.
