Stars Lose to Senators, 2-1 | Washington Senators starter Wayne LaMaster pitched his team past the Detroit Stars, 2-1. Jumbo Brown converted his 18th save in 22 tries. With the win, Washington goes to 60-80, while the Stars fall to 79-60.
Washington used the timely hitting of Justin Maxwell to seize the win. The center fielder stroked a 2-run single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Senators on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"I'll probably toss and turn tonight," Detroit manager David Mollicone said following the tough loss. | | | | |
