American Giants Deal Senators 5-2 Defeat
Chicago picked up a win at RFK Stadium, toppling the Washington Senators, 5-2. Pitcher Jerry Koosman was one of the reasons the American Giants triumphed. Matt Thornton finished to wrap up his 2nd save. Washington falls to 12-14.

Chicago used a well-timed hit by Pie Traynor to capture the win. The third baseman socked a run-scoring double in the top of the third inning to put the American Giants ahead, 1-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.

Traynor told a Chicago News reporter that he was "satisfied" with the win.
