Thrilling Win Pushes Los Angeles to Next Round
The Los Angeles Dodgers are on to the Round 2 with a 6-2 win over the Detroit Stars.

With a one-game format in the Round 1, tensions were high as both teams battled to keep their championship dreams alive.

"We always believed we would come out on top," said starting pitcher Mark Fidrych. "Nobody was ready to see the season come to an end."

Fidrych provided a strong presence on the mound, leading his team to victory and claiming game MVP honors. He threw 9 innings, with 6 strikeouts, while allowing 6 hits, no walks and 2 runs.

For the Stars, it marks a "bitterly disappointing" way to end the season, according to manager David Mollicone.

The Los Angeles Dodgers will play against the Birmingham Black Barons in the next round. Birmingham had a bye in the Round 1. The Round 2 is scheduled to begin on October 7th, 1961. 6 strikeouts, while allowing 6 hits, no walks and 2 runs.
