Thrilling Win Pushes Birmingham to Next Round
Birmingham was alive with celebration tonight after the Birmingham Black Barons triumphed in the October Madness over the Yokohama Dodgers, by a score of 5-4 at Kanagawa Prefecture Park.

"Anything can happen in a one-game playoff, so you've got to feel fortunate you're going on," said center fielder Tommy Leach, who led his team to victory by going 2-for-4 in the game. "We know how tough it would be to lose a game like this, so we're fortunate to be on this side of things."

The Birmingham Black Barons will play against the Houston Eagles in the next round. Houston had a bye in the October Madness. The League Championship Series is scheduled to begin on October 7th, 1977.
