Angels Need Extra Frames to Get Past Browns | Los Angeles third baseman Martin Dihigo made his presence felt in the 10-9 Angels triumph over the St. Louis Browns. Dihigo was 4 for 8 with a home run, 3 singles, and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Los Angeles reliever Felix Hernandez was the winner. His record is now 3-1. Ren Kelly took the loss. Jim C Wright finished the game for Los Angeles and earned his 2nd save.
A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the top of the 16th, with the game tied, Zeb Terry was at the plate when Los Angeles scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Angels to go in front, 9-8.
"Our guys just had that look of determination," said winning manager Neil F. Lewis.
The win elevated the Angels to 19-17. | | | | |
