Stars Win October Madness
Only one team can eventually be crowned World Series champions and the Detroit Stars took a big step toward that tonight with a 4-3 win over the Houston Eagles in the October Madness.

"The thought of our season being over if we lose a single game was motivating, so it wasn't hard to get pumped up for this one," said Detroit first baseman Nate Colbert, who had 2 hits in 4 at bats to lead his team to victory.

In a brief interview after the loss, Houston manager Charles Wolfson congratulated Detroit on the win and wished the club luck in the rest of the playoffs.

The Detroit Stars will play against the Birmingham Black Barons in the next round. Birmingham had a bye in the October Madness. The League Championship Series is scheduled to begin on October 4th, 1978.
