Faber Handcuffs Eagles, Senators Seize 1-0 Advantage in World Series | Red Faber and the Washington Senators opened the World Series in brilliant fashion today, traveling to Houston and shutting out the host Eagles at Buffalo Stadium 1-0 to secure an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Faber, the Senators right-hander, was named player of the game as he threw 9 innings of shutout ball.
The Eagles had trouble solving Faber, who surrendered no earned runs on 3 hits over 9 innings.
"There are no moral victories," said losing manager Charles Wolfson.
The next game is scheduled for tomorrow. The scheduled starters for the game are William Bell for Washington and Ed Seward for Houston. | | | | |
