| Milwaukee Wastes Great Game by Calderon | The Milwaukee Bears got a superb performance from left fielder Ivan Calderon. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Birmingham. The Black Barons won the game, 4-3. Calderon went 3 for 3 with 2 home runs and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. Jose R Alvarez was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 4 of 10 save opportunities. With the win, Birmingham upped its record to 81-80.
Brooks Robinson took Willie Foster deep in the top of the sixth. His solo home run put the Black Barons on top, 4-3. In all, Robinson had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.
"It was a good effort all around," said Robinson.
