Americans Rally to Tally 5-2 Win
Boston and Detroit duked it out and the Americans came out victorious.

Starting pitcher Bob Rush was a major factor in the 5-2 Boston Americans triumph over the Detroit Stars. Boston reliever Monty Kennedy was the winner. His record is now 1-3. Rob Dibble took the loss. John W Morris nailed down his 7th save.

Runs were hard to come by in this one. Ken Griffey Jr's at-bat with one out in the top of the ninth, therefore, was critical. The Boston center fielder drew a walk, driving in 1 run, to put his team on top, 3-2.

"Nice to tuck this win away," said Griffey Jr.

The win elevated the Americans to 23-18.
