| Monarchs Beat Detroit, 3-2 | Good production from designated hitter Heinie Manush helped the Kansas City Monarchs topple the Detroit Stars, 3-2. Manush went 2 for 3 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for the Monarchs. The victory puts Kansas City at 16-25.
When he came to bat in the bottom of the ninth, Jose Iglesias had a chance to be the hero. Detroit pitcher Zach Britton had other ideas. But with one out, Iglesias hit a walk-off run-scoring single. The Monarchs had themselves a dramatic win.
After the game, Kansas City manager Steve Hollis applauded the team's effort. "They busted their tails out there," he said.
