| Caribou Edge Americans 4-3 to Open Division Round | Caribou got all of their offense from third baseman Josh Donaldson today. Thankfully for the Caribou, he had plenty to give.
Behind a strong game from Donaldson, Caribou took the 4-3 victory over the Boston Americans in Game 1 of the Division Round today. Donaldson went 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 4 runs and scored once, while Caribou took a 1-0 lead over the Americans in the best-of-5 series.
The game turned with one out in the top of the fifth when Donaldson, who finished 3rd in the AL in wins above replacement with 8.6 in 2002, hit a 2-run single. It propelled the Caribou into the lead, 4-2.
"We made a couple of mistakes," said Boston skipper Ice Chamberlin, "and it cost us."
Game 2 is scheduled for tomorrow in Boston. The scheduled starters for the game are Tom Bradley for the Caribou Caribou and German Marquez for the the Boston Americans.
