| Memphis Takes Division Round in Deciding Game | The joy and relief on the faces of the Memphis Red Sox players was obvious as they celebrated their Division Round win over the Houston Eagles.
"In a series like this, the smallest thing can make the difference in how it turns out," said Memphis right fielder Kevin Mench, shortly after the 5-4 win that clinched the series 3-2. "We're happy we did what it takes to get it done."
The team is now off to the League Championship Series.
Mench won series MVP honors on the strength of his .429 batting average during the series. He also had a .556 on-base percentage and 2 home runs, drove in 4 RBI and scored 3 runs.
The Memphis Red Sox will play against the Milwaukee Bears in the next round. Milwaukee won their series against the Detroit Stars 3 games to 0. The League Championship Series is scheduled to begin on October 13th, 2005. | | |  | |
