Hartnett Blasts Senators, Black Barons Take Game 3, 12-5 | The Birmingham Black Barons defeated the Washington Senators, 12-5 in Game 3 of the World Series today. Making an impact was catcher Gabby Hartnett, who went 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. The win narrows Birmingham's deficit in the series to 2-1.
In the top of the first, with the game still scoreless, Hartnett hit a run-scoring single to put his team in the lead.
"It feels good to get this one," Hartnett told the Birmingham Herald.
Game 4 is set to be played Friday, October 29th, 2004 at Rickwood Field. The scheduled starters for the game are Monty Stratton for Washington and Al Leiter for Birmingham. | | | | |
