| Griffin Now 5-1 After Subduing Monarchs | The Houston Eagles got a good effort from starter Tom Griffin in defeating the Kansas City Monarchs at Buffalo Stadium. The final score was 7-0. Houston now has a record of 29-21 with the win.
Griffin was in the zone all game. He frustrated Kansas City hitters while giving the Eagles 7 innings of quality work. Griffin threw 101 pitches, allowing 1 hit and getting 3 punchouts.
"It's always a heck of a lot easier to get to sleep after a win," Griffin told the Houston Daily. "I know I'll rest easy tonight."
