Eagles Prevail, 3-1, Over Boston | Houston and Boston duked it out and the Eagles came out victorious.
Houston beat Boston on the strength of starter Ted Gray's fine effort. The left-hander led his team to a win, 3-1. Takashi Saito converted his 17th save in 18 tries.
Buck Rodgers had a big 2-run triple for the Eagles in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Houston trailing 1-0 and runners on 1st and 3rd, he got a fastball from Tom L Hughes and swatted a triple to center. It was his 1st triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Eagles ahead, 2-1.
"This was a tough loss," said Boston manager Ice Chamberlin. "It'll stick in my craw for a while."
