| Victory Takes Stars to 31-29 | Getting offensive support from Alex Rodriguez, the Detroit Stars topped the Washington Senators, 4-2. Rodriguez went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2 for the Stars. Al Hollingsworth, who went 7 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 2 runs on 6 hits, while walking 0 and striking out 9. His record now stands at 4-3. With the win, Detroit raised its record to 31-29.
The Stars got an important contribution from first baseman Mule Suttles, who in the bottom of the third hit a 1-0 fastball into left-center for a 2-run home run. It was his 15th home run of the season and put the Stars ahead, 3-0.
"We'll pop the top on a cold beverage and get back to work tomorrow," Rodriguez said.
