Senators Come Up Short at Kansas City, 5-4 | The Kansas City Athletics weathered a fine game by Washington catcher Don Slaught to upend the Senators, 5-4, at The Big Green A. Slaught was 3 for 3 with 2 doubles and a walk, while adding 2 RBI. The Athletics raised their record to 29-33.
In the bottom of the fourth inning, the Athletics grabbed the lead when Cory Sullivan rapped a two-out single. Kansas City was trailing 2-1, when Sullivan hit a 2-run single off Joe Nathan to put his team in front, 3-2.
