Senators Drop Athletics, 4-2 | The Kansas City Athletics got a superb performance from pitcher Woody Williams, but the Washington Senators still won the game, 4-2. Williams threw 8 innings of 5-hit ball. Scott Sullivan got credit for the win, improving to 2-0. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.1 innings. The Senators go to 25-39 with the win.
Washington used the timely hitting of Jose Peraza to seize the win. The second baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the 11th inning to put the Senators on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"It was a solid team effort," said Peraza after the game. | | | | |
