| Chicago Bats Go Silent in 1-0 Loss | Memphis rode a good effort from starter Ownie Carroll to beat the Chicago Federals at Wrigley Field. The final score was 1-0. Carroll got the win, improving to 6-5. He allowed 1 hit and walked 2 over 5 innings. Carroll allowed no runs. Memphis now has a record of 40-23 with the win.
Chase Utley had a go-ahead home run for Memphis in the top of the fifth inning. With two out and the bases empty, the 26-year old third baseman hit a solo home run off Jon Matlack. His 11th home run of the season made the score 1-0.
"I really like what we did out there today," Utley said after the game.
