Kansas City pitcher Frank Tanana had a standout performance. The winner in relief was Bruce Dal Canton. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 2 innings. He now owns a record of 5-1. Had Luis Aparicio not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 3rd, Aparicio hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 5-4, in favor of the Monarchs.
