| Late Magic Gets New York 10-3 Win | Boston got a terrific game from second baseman Joe L Morgan. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to New York, 10-3. Morgan went 3 for 3 with 3 singles and 2 walks, while scoring 2 runs. New York reliever Hector Carrasco picked up the win, upping his record to 2-0. Monty Kennedy shouldered the loss. Jim Willoughby notched his 2nd save in 2 chances.
New York used a clutch hit from Chipper Jones to snatch the win. The left fielder belted a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Black Yankees ahead, 5-3. It was his only hit, but it was huge.
"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Jones told the New York Chronicle.
New York is now 33-35.
