Browns Lose, 4-1, at RFK Stadium
The Washington Senators topped the St. Louis Browns by the score of 4-1, with the biggest share of the credit going to third baseman Xander Bogaerts. Bogaerts was 2 for 4 with a home run and a double. He drove in 4 runs and scored once for the Senators on the day. Washington pitcher Jack Fisher got the win, upping his record to 4-4. Win Mercer got the loss. Ben DeMott was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 2 of 3 save opportunities.

Bogaerts hit a 2-run double in the bottom of the third to help the Washington cause. The double, which was hit off Win Mercer, allowed Washington to take a 2-0 lead.

"In baseball, you have your ups and downs," said St. Louis manager Jeff Patterson. "You just try to stay level-headed the whole time."

Washington is now 30-43, St. Louis 42-30.
