Monarchs Fall Short, 2-1, at Houston | The Houston Eagles topped the Kansas City Monarchs, 2-1, in Senior Circuit action at Buffalo Stadium. The game was highlighted by the performance of Houston pitcher Kevin Tapani. Tapani got the win, improving to 8-4. He allowed 4 hits and walked 1 over 7.2 innings. Tapani allowed 1 run. Takashi Saito, credited with the save, is now 22 for 23 in save opportunities.
The Eagles got a lift from center fielder Jim Wynn who had a 2-run home run in the bottom of the first inning off Shawn Estes. It was his 17th home run of the season and put Houston in front, 2-0.
