Dodgers Lose Late, 7-5 | Behind a solid performance from third baseman Billy Goodman, the St. Louis Browns defeated the Yokohama Dodgers, 7-5. Goodman was 2 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 4 runs and scored once for the Browns. St. Louis reliever Doug Capilla picked up the win, raising his record to 3-0. Brad Brach was tagged with the loss. Dave LaRoche converted his 3rd save in 3 tries.
Roger Maris had a clutch at-bat with one out in the top of the eighth for the Browns. Coming up with the bases loaded and St. Louis trailing 3-2, he hit a 2-run single.
"I just tried to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Maris.
