| Monarchs Win, 6-3, at Birmingham | Kansas City pitcher Jose Guzman did his part in helping his team beat the Birmingham Black Barons, 6-3. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Bruce Dal Canton was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 5 of 7 save opportunities. The Monarchs go to 27-49 with the win.
Kansas City used the bat of Tom Parrott to capture the win. The left fielder jacked a 3-run home run in the top of the third inning to put the Monarchs ahead, 5-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a dandy.
Guzman said his team "played with focus."
