Floundering American Giants Lose 6th Straight | Starting pitcher Don Drysdale pitched well enough to help the Milwaukee Bears beat the Chicago American Giants, 5-4. Milwaukee reliever Adam Cimber picked up the win, upping his record to 4-2. Matt Thornton was saddled with the loss. Chicago's current losing streak is now 6 games.
Milwaukee won the game in the bottom of the ninth inning. With one out and Matt Thornton on the mound for Chicago, right fielder Nick Swisher hit a dramatic solo home run, bringing Bears fans to their feet.
