| Angels Clip Athletics, 1-0 | In a low-scoring affair between the Los Angeles Angels and the Kansas City Athletics, pitcher Hooks Wiltse was the difference between victory and defeat. The Los Angeles left-hander earned accolades in the 1-0 Angels win. Reliever Felix Hernandez picked up the win. His record improves to 6-5. Red Ames took the loss. The win puts Los Angeles at 40-61.
A decisive at-bat came in the bottom of the eighth inning. With the bases loaded, the batter, Gus Bell, hit a sacrifice fly. It made the score 1-0, Los Angeles, and helped them go on to win.
"We'll kick back tonight, then get set for the next one," Wiltse said.
