Leiter got the win, improving to 6-8. He allowed 8 hits and walked 0 over 9 innings. Leiter allowed 2 runs. The win gives Birmingham a season record of 56-47.
In the top of the third, with Birmingham leading 3-1, catcher Ken Retzer hit a 2-run single. The hit came off Tommy John and put the Black Barons ahead, 5-1.
