| Red Sox Get 5-1 Win Versus Birmingham | Ownie Carroll never let the Black Barons get in a groove. The right-hander used his bread and butter, his curveball, to pitch the Red Sox to a win, 5-1. The win puts Memphis at 62-41 this season.
In the bottom of the first, Kevin Mench hit a 2-run double. The 13th double of the season for the Memphis right fielder put the Red Sox on top, 2-0.
Mench called the win "a team effort."
