| Stars Deal Black Yankees 12-1 Loss | The Detroit Stars topped the New York Black Yankees, 12-1, in Senior Circuit action at Yankee Stadium I. The game was highlighted by the performance of Detroit pitcher Jesse Tannehill. Tannehill, now 1-0, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 5, walking 1, and allowing 1 run. Bill Donovan, credited with the save, is now 4 for 5 in save opportunities.
Tied up with the Black Yankees in the top of the fifth inning, the Stars got a boost from shortstop Alex Rodriguez. With the bases loaded, Rodriguez saw a 0-1 sinker from Dennis Lamp and hit a 2-run single to break the stalemate and put Detroit on top, 3-1.
"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Detroit manager David Mollicone.
Detroit now has a record of 60-46 with the win.
