Federals Scratch and Claw to 7-4 Win | The Chicago Federals defeated the Kansas City Monarchs, 7-4, at Buck O'Neil Yard today. Leading the charge for Chicago was second baseman Joe Cronin. He was 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. The winner in relief was Ruben Quevedo. The right-hander allowed no runs on 3 hits in 4.1 innings. Chicago needed the clutch hitting of Willard Marshall to notch the win. The right fielder hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Federals on top, 5-4. For the game, Marshall had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
