| Monarchs Roll to 8-2 Win Over Stars | The Kansas City Monarchs picked up a win at Buck O'Neil Yard, knocking off the Detroit Stars, 8-2. Starting pitcher Lefty Williams played a key role in the triumph. Williams, now 6-9, was the winner. In 6.2 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 5, walking 2, and allowing 2 runs. Mitch Keller got the save, his 1st in 1 chances.
Kansas City took a 7-2 lead on Heinie Manush's 9th home run of the season. The 3-run home run came off Detroit pitcher Bob Ojeda in the bottom of the eighth.
"The boys were really swinging the bats today," winning manager Steve Hollis said.
The win has Kansas City at 42-71.
