John Now 17-9 After Subduing Browns | The Memphis Red Sox defeated the St. Louis Browns, 3-0, in Senior Circuit action at Elvis Stadium. Memphis pitcher Tommy John had a standout performance. Carlos A Diaz was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 26 of 29 save opportunities. The first-place Red Sox, at 71-45, now lead their division by 2½ games.
