Senators Clonk Americans, 3-2 | The Washington Senators did just enough to secure a victory over the Boston Americans, 3-2, at RFK Stadium. Nobody did more than left fielder Jim Rice. Washington pitcher Jack Fisher got the win. He's now 7-6. Fritz Ostermueller was tagged with the loss. Ben DeMott got the save, his 3rd in 6 chances.
The Senators took a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the third inning. Facing Boston hurler Fritz Ostermueller with one out, Rice hit a 2-run home run.
"Good pitching, clutch hitting," said Washington skipper Rickie E. Shaw. "I can't complain."
The first-place Americans have lost 4 consecutive games. | | | | |
