Dodgers Deal Black Barons 6-4 Loss | The Birmingham Black Barons got a superb performance from pitcher Jim Umbarger. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Yokohama. The Dodgers won the game, 6-4. Umbarger threw 6 innings of 4-hit ball. The Dodgers now have a record of 52-69 with the win over Birmingham.
Yokohama used the timely hitting of Jimmie Coker to capture the win. The catcher socked a 3-run home run in the top of the 11th inning to put the Dodgers ahead, 6-3. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a big one.
"We'll pop the top on a cold beverage and get back to work tomorrow," Coker said. | | | | |
