| Eagles Lose to Stars, 2-1 | The Detroit Stars faced a tough opponent in Houston pitcher Kyle Davies, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Tiger Stadium by a final score of 2-1. Davies went 5.1 innings and allowed 1 run. Waite Hoyt earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2.1 innings. His record is now 9-10. Rob Dibble was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 27 of 31 save opportunities.
Detroit took a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the seventh inning. With no one out, pinch hitter Jeffrey Leonard hit a solo home run that set the crowd abuzz.
"Ah, the sweet taste of victory," Leonard crowed after the game.
The victory gives Detroit a record of 68-52.
