| Kansas City Advances to Division Round Tuesday, October 4th, 2005 The Kansas City Athletics stepped up when it counted and are off to the Division Round.
With a 5-1 win at Yankee Stadium I, Kansas City has eliminated the New York Black Yankees and won the Play-in Round.
"Our guys knew what it took to win and we stepped up when we most needed to," said starting pitcher Robbie Ray. "We need that same intensity and effort in the next round too."
Ray was named series MVP as he threw 7.1 innings, with 3 strikeouts, while allowing 7 hits, 1 walk and 1 run.
Black Yankees manager John McInerney said his team is already focused on getting back to the playoffs and having a better result next year.
The Kansas City Athletics will play against the St. Louis Browns in the next round. St. Louis had a bye in the Play-in Round. The Division Round is scheduled to begin on October 5th, 2005.
