| Rivero Gets 2-Game Suspension Sunday, June 5th, 2005 Shortly after yesterday's Seals -Baseball Club game ended, Carlos Rivero's on-field tantrum seemed almost comical. In response to being ejected for questioning a called third strike, the San Francisco third baseman tossed his hat to the dirt and kicked it repeatedly. He couldn't help but laugh at himself and his over-the-top, hat-kicking, anger-laced tirade.
"It was funny," Rivero said. "I was hoping I could kick it all the way to the dugout."
The umpiring crew, however, didn't find it funny and neither did the league. Though Rivero said he did not think his actions warranted a suspension, he will miss 2 games.
This year Rivero has hit 4 home runs and posted a .262 batting average. | | |
