| Adams on Fire, 6-for-6 Against Readfield Sunday, July 31st, 2005 Dick Adams was at the head of a Wading River hit parade today at Readfield Elementary School. The first baseman went to the plate 6 times and came away with 6 hits, sparking the Pirates to a 25-14 victory over the Readfield Tigers.
"I told the guys in the dugout, just be thinking about hitting the ball hard somewhere," the sweet-swinging Adams told reporters after the game. "Seems like it worked out well for us today."
Tigers skipper said later that the club gave up "too much plate."
"Not the way we planned it," he said. "Every hitter in the league will rip you when you do that."
Dick Adams walked in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 2nd, hit a two-run single in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 6th, singled in the 8th and hit an RBI single in the 9th.
In 101 games this year Adams has posted a .287 average and put up these numbers: 27 home runs, 73 RBIs and 61 runs scored. | | |
