| 5-for-5 Day for Osik Sunday, August 14th, 2005 Even as a kid, Keith Osik said his coaches told him the key to hitting was making contact, and letting everything else flow from there. At Ballpark of Oxnard today, Osik showed how well he learned that lesson.
The 34-year-old catcher had 5 hits in 5 at-bats for the Iowa Cubs, helping his team knock off the Readfield Tigers by a score of 17-0.
"They always said, just keep your eye on the ball, don't overswing, make contact and you never know what will happen," he said. "That's all I did today."
Keith Osik singled in the 2nd, walked in a run in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 5th, singled in the 7th and hit a three-run home run off Rob Ryan in the 8th.
Osik has a .373 average and a .458 on-base percentage for the year. He has picked up 19 hits, 1 home run and driven in 8 runs. | | |
